About this Service
Clinically reviewed by licensed pharmacistsMuscle sprains, strains, and minor joint injuries are painful and can significantly impact daily activity. Under Ontario's Minor Ailments program, our pharmacists can assess minor musculoskeletal injuries and prescribe topical anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs such as diclofenac gel) to reduce pain and swelling, while advising on the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and appropriate activity modification.
Our pharmacists are trained to recognize the difference between minor sprains and more serious injuries. If your injury is clearly minor, we can have you assessed and prescribed within a single visit — no lengthy wait required.
For injuries with significant swelling, inability to bear weight, suspected fracture, deformity, or pain not improving after 48–72 hours, a family doctor examination is essential. Our onsite family doctors at TDL MD Clinic (Dr. Tony D. Luong, 905-712-3998) and Saldanha Health Centre (Dr. Saldanha, 905-890-8183) can perform a comprehensive physical examination, arrange X-rays, and refer to physiotherapy or orthopaedics as needed. Both are co-located with Peel Best Pharmacy at 550 Matheson Blvd W, Unit 106, Mississauga.
